PERSONAL

ADVICE

Before any therapy, there is a consultation with a physical examination, the analysis of all findings and, if necessary, the carrying out of further diagnostics (e.g. sonography, MRI). We will advise you on the existing treatment options and discuss with you the pros and cons of conservative or surgical treatment.

Our principle is to carry out therapy as gently as possible but as comprehensively as necessary.

SHOULDER INSTABILITY AND SHOULDER DISLOCATION

Due to its high mobility and comparatively small joint socket, the shoulder is particularly susceptible to dislocation. Typical causes of shoulder instability are injuries to the joint lip (Bankart lesion), overstretched capsule structures, bony defects or neurologically caused muscle weakness. The symptoms range from unsteadiness in the joint to pain and recurring dislocations. Depending on the extent, injuries can be treated conservatively (physiotherapy) or surgically, e.g. B. with an arthroscopic stabilization.

Impingement syndrome – when tendons come under pressure

Shoulder impingement syndrome occurs when tendons – usually those of the rotator cuff or bursas – become constricted between the head of the humerus and the acromion. Those affected often complain of pain when lifting their arm, especially above shoulder height, as well as nighttime discomfort when lying on the affected side. Common causes are bony changes, inflammation or muscular imbalances. In our practice, we initially treat impingement syndrome conservatively with targeted physiotherapy, injections or anti-inflammatory measures. If the therapy is not sufficient, a minimally invasive arthroscopic expansion of the space under the acromion may be useful.

Calcific TENDINITIS –
painful deposits in the tendon

In calcified tendinitis (tendinosis calcarea), calcium crystals (hydroxyapatite) are deposited in the tendon of the rotator cuff - typically in the supraspinatus tendon or the bursas. These deposits can appear spontaneously and dissolve over a period of years. The dissolution phase is particularly painful when the calcium passes into the bursa and causes inflammation there. Not every calcification lesion needs surgery: in many cases, targeted shock wave therapy or other conservative treatment methods help. If the symptoms persist, the deposits can be removed arthroscopically with a high success rate - gently and effectively.

Rotator cuff tear -
when the tendons wear or tear

The rotator cuff consists of four tendons that stabilize the head of the humerus. Cracks or partial cracks often arise from wear, accidents or incorrect loading. Typical symptoms include pain when lifting the arm and loss of strength. While minor damage can often be treated conservatively, extensive or complex tendon damage - such as the supraspinatus tendon - usually requires arthroscopy with surgical treatment. We rely on minimally invasive, implant-free procedures to provide your shoulder with the best possible care and with high patient satisfaction.

Shoulder arthritis –
when wear and tear on the joint leads to pain

If the cartilage of the shoulder wears down over the course of life or is damaged through an injury, shoulder osteoarthritis can develop, which can lead to pain, restricted movement and inflammation. For mild symptoms, conservative measures such as injections, physiotherapy or targeted changes in lifestyle can help. If symptoms persist, a minimally invasive shoulder arthroscopy can help reduce pain. In the case of advanced osteoarthritis, an artificial joint replacement can be useful to restore shoulder function and quality of life - either as an anatomical or reverse shoulder prosthesis.

Injuries to the acromio-clavicular joint - When the AC joint no longer “holds”

The AC joint connects the collarbone with the acromion and is particularly prone to injuries in falls - e.g. B. when cycling or sports injuries. If there is instability, the clavicle can become clinically prominent (so-called piano key phenomenon). Minor injuries can usually be treated conservatively, while severe instabilities usually require stabilization using the keyhole technique. We rely on the most modern surgical techniques such as the arthroscopic pulley system in a clinic in Munich to enable rapid and stable healing.

"When I fell, I fractured my shoulder joint (tuberculum majus). Since the fragments hadn't shifted that much, Dr. Ockert recommended that I treat my arm conservatively, that is, simply immobilize it and not operate. It It takes time, but everything has healed wonderfully and the old mobility has been restored. I can only recommend Dr. Ockert and his team."
